March, 2022 Announcement from Shelli: 

I am very happy to make this announcement to the women in the Mississippi Valley churches!  For the last several years, I have had the privilege of serving as our Coordinator of Presbytery Women’s Ministry.  I have enjoyed working with many gifted and wonderful women to reach out to women in the churches, hear needs, share resources, pray together, encourage one another, and help to revitalize women’s ministry in the MS Valley.  We have seen God’s faithfulness in so many ways…building and strengthening His kingdom, refreshing our hearts, developing new friendships, and increasing our faith and joy as we have shared sweet times of fellowship, learning, fruitful discussions and prayer, meeting together as a team, and also gathering with our sisters in Christ from our sister churches for “Coffee & Connection” and “Leadership Lunch Bunch”. 

 

Today I want to introduce a sweet friend, Kristi McCown, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Louisville.  Kristi served as their WM (Women’s Ministry) President from mid 2017 – 2019.  Since then, she has been contacting women in the churches in her area, serving as an Area Ambassador for Presbytery WM.  She has attended LT (Leadership Training) in Atlanta in recent years and has been training with me and meeting for our WM leadership group prayers, and has met with the men of our local oversight committee, (CDM),  and is preparing to serve as our next Coordinator of Presbytery Women’s Ministry!

 

Kristi loves the Lord and His people, and she is a delightful sister in Christ who is excited to serve you and make herself available for you to contact.  I am so thankful to God for all that He is doing and preparing for the women in the Mississippi Valley!  It’s time to enjoy a fresh, new start in Women’s Ministry Leadership, Lunch Bunch, and Coffee & Re-Connection!  Please pray for Kristi as she takes the lead in serving with other women in our Presbytery.  Would you please say hello and help me welcome Kristi McCown as she begins serving in this new capacity?

“Hand in Hand” Spiritual Gifts Conference at Highlands, Saturday, Feb. 6th from 9:00 - 1:00

WOMEN’S CONFERENCE, FEBRUARY 6

Come join with women from Highlands & Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church for a conference on spiritual gifts on Saturday, February 6 from 9:00 - 1:00 at Highlands.

This interactive conference, Hand in Hand:  Using our Gifts to Promote Unity in the Body, will be led by Tammie Haynes and Laurie Nordan and includes a spiritual gifts inventory that each woman will take and then discuss around the tables.  A box lunch will be provided, and our usual COVID protocols of social distancing and mask-wearing will be observed.  The registration fee is $20.  You may register at Highlandspca.org.  

NOT meeting yet for Coffee & Connection in Belzoni ...Inviting you to PRAY together!

Ladies - We will NOT be meeting for Coffee & Connection in Belzoni on Saturday, November 7th, 2020.  

Until we meet again, please continue to pray for one another, for our sister churches, our pastors, and all leaders!  

Maybe you can reach out by phone to pray with a faithful friend, or meet with 1 or 2 or a few women in your church to share a few scriptures and pray together.  (Maybe meet early for 15-20 minutes prior to a worship service?)  Or set another day and time each week...for “Ten minute Tuesdays” or “Weekly Wednesdays”.  Pick any time that works for you...I just want to urge you to FIND A FRIEND and share encouraging, hope-filled, life-giving words...and continue to PRAY!

Hinged@Home Conference + FREE Resources on CDM

Have you heard about the upcoming “Hinged at Home” conference that is going to be available ONLINE???  There is so much available, for learning with other women in small groups, or on your own from home, for connecting with women online or in person/from a distance, at church or at home...whatever you’d like to do!  Check it out!

July update for Presbytery Women's Ministry

July 7, 2020

Hello Ladies -

Here’s a quick update of all that is happening (and NOT happening right now!) with Presbytery Women’s Ministry in the Mississippi Valley, due to the Coronavirus and current situation in our country. 

We are still “on hold” since the decision was made in early March to postpone the Coffee & Connection that month at Wynndale, and now we have also postponed the C&C that was set for July at Lakeland.  Both churches would like to host a C&C sometime in the future, when things are up and running again. 

Many of the MS Valley churches are just now beginning to gather for worship, and trying to keep everyone distanced.  All the churches that I know of are not yet meeting for Sunday school classes or any groups of more than 10 people, so it’s not feasible to try to host large groups yet for a Coffee & Connection, or try to “talk around the table” while maintaining our distance.  Many women would not be willing to attend at this point, either. 

We have not been meeting for Lunch Bunch, since restaurants were closed, and things are still sketchy with travel and any type of social settings as things begin to open again.  So we have continued to wait (and pray!) and we have not had any Presbytery-wide women’s meetings offered since March, 2020.

For future updates, please check back on this blogsite and the Facebook pages listed below.  We will let you know when upcoming events are back on the schedule!   Also, please check the Facebook group for prayer requests and FEEL FREE TO POST prayer requests, questions, comments and encouraging words there, too!  These groups were created for women to connect with each other!

The national team has posts on their website (pcacdm.org) and registration information for the regional “Hinged” conferences, starting with the one in Birmingham to be held September 18-19.

Please continue to pray for the pastors, leaders and churches of our Presbytery, and for the PCA, and all of our brothers and sisters in Christ, here and around the world!  This is such an unusual time in the life of our country and the whole world.  But thankfully, we can trust that our loving and powerful God is in control!

March 2020 Letter re: Events Postponed Due to Coronavirus

Re:  Postponement of Presbytery Women’s Ministry Events

Hello Again, Sweet Sisters!

Notices have been posted and shared, and many text messages sent.  So you are most likely already aware, but I wanted to make sure you know that all of our presbytery-wide women’s ministry events are being postponed for now, in light of the recent news of the Coronavirus and the need for social distancing.  Hopefully, with most people staying at home and away from gatherings, things will be better sooner than if we didn’t heed these precautionary measures.  This is such an unusual time in our lives!  I’m so thankful that we can trust our ever-faithful God to be with us and lead us through the unknown days ahead.

We will miss getting together for Coffee & Connection at Wynndale March 21^st and also the Lunch Bunch that was scheduled for later this month, the 31st.   Also, the regional conference that was going to be held in Gulfport on March 28^th is postponed until later this year.

Please pray for one another and for our pastors and churches all around the world!  And remember to check the blogsite and/or Facebook group page for news and updates.  This is the best way for you to find out what is happening in Presbytery women’s ministry.

CHANGE OF PLANS! We will NOT meet for Coffee & Connection in the month of March. So sorry...

CHANGE OF PLANS...as in NO plans now for the March 21st Coffee & Connection.  We will NOT meet at Wynndale during the month of March...this C&C is now being POSTPONED indefinitely.

After further discussions and advisement from men of our Presbytery, we have unanimously decided that we POSTPONE the Coffee & Connection at Wynndale.  We would rather take precautionary measures to prevent the possible sharing of any virus, and we will make plans to get together on some later date at Wynndale.  We will miss you this time!  And we will let you know the new date whenever it is rescheduled.

Also, will you please SHARE this announcement with women in your church?  And please pray for our sisters and sister churches!

Matthew Smith will give a seminar on hymns at 5 PM before the concert at 7 at Providence Presbyterian Church. Matthew Smith is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who writes brand new music to centuries old hymn texts. He is a founding member of the Indelible Grace community, whose work has drawn acclaim across denominational lines and is used in churches around the world.
